Jamey is an independent game developer with over 15 years of professional experience, most recently as a Game Designer at Google DeepMind. His personal work explores the expressive potential of videogames and interactive systems, and includes games about contemporary US politics (Glass Ceiling, emperor shoutypants), gentrification (Troy 2016), resilient communities (Heartstrings), and the damage caused by powerful institutions (Capital Region Lost and Found). Jamey is also the Co-founder and Executive Director of Tech Valley Game Space, a nonprofit organization that supports independent game makers in the NY Capital Region. He is passionate about fostering more inclusive, approachable, and thriving creative communities, as well as encouraging collaboration among game makers, artists, and activists. Since 2014, Jamey has worked with numerous local partners to organize support programs for indie and aspiring game makers, with a particular emphasis on new voices and marginalized creators. Recent highlights of these efforts include Lift Off, a diversity incubator that provides free game dev training and mentorship for people from underrepresented groups, and 518 Game Changers, a summer youth education program in South Troy.
