Eddie Jowels

musician/educator/composer

Eddie believes in the power of imagination and wonderment, and it is through the mediums of music and art, and with the tools of pedagogy that he pursues the rejuvenation of these innate human characteristics in order to inform, connect, and heal others.
Eddie occupies many musical realms ranging from experimental improvisation to classical performance, having sung throughout NYC and Europe for over a decade, specializing in early and modern music, as well as a keen emphasis on 19th century German Lieder.
He produces and performs original music ranging from large-scale orchestral works, and chamber works, to avant-garde rock, hip-hop, R&B, and aleatoric works. Eddie formally studied voice and composition at Lawrence Conservatory of Music, and furthered his focus on composition with Jessica Rudman at The Hartt School. Former mentors and teachers include: Kenneth Bozeman, Arthur Sjögren, Dale Duesing, and Jim Lang. He has been a live performance and session drummer, keyboardist, singer, bassist, producer, arranger, and composer for 20+ years. While living in Connecticut, for 10 years, Eddie owned and operated a full-service analog and digital recording studio called Mother Brother Studios.
Currently, Eddie privately teaches nearly 30 students of all ages, utilizing social-emotional methodology, somatic awareness, and various Feldenkrais techniques, and also performs consistently throughout upstate New York and the greater Tri-State area. He is the creator of the improvisation duo/collective, Pig Butchering, and is a regular collaborator with Saratoga-based Improv Spaces.
