Originally from Bridgeport, Conn., D. Colin is a multidisciplinary Haitian American artist hailing from New York's Capital Region. Fueled by a Pan-African, womanist and social justice lens as well as a passion for cultivating spaces for stories, healing and community, she aims to inspire, empower and educate through poetry, painting and performance. She is the author of Dreaming in Kreyol and a limited-print collection titled Said the Swing to the Hoop. She is also a Cave Canem Foundation, Voices of Our Nations Arts (VONA) Foundation and New York State Writers Institute fellow with degrees in English and Africana Studies. She is one of the artists in residency at the Arts Center of the Capital Region's Fish Market Project. In 2019, she was honored as Resourceful Woman of the Year in the Arts by YWCA-GCR and she is the recipient of the UAlbany Alumni Association's 2022 Excellence in Arts & Letters Award.
