Chrys Ballerano enjoys sharing liberating somatic practices fostering resilience and healing to individuals and communities. As a survivor-advocate, she’s dedicated over 25 years to anti-violence work coordinating collaborative ways to transform trauma into meaningful action. Dedicated to healing-centered approaches Chrys has facilitated hundreds of workshops exploring the power of rhythm circles and expressive arts to build connections to Self and one another in community spaces. She’s been invited to lead drum circles in all kinds of settings: urban classrooms, rural retreats, professional conferences and direct actions. She speaks publicly about secondary traumatic stress and holistic approaches to transform human services; teaches yoga, meditation and facilitates chanting workshops. For fun and sustainability, Chrys practices the gardening “permaculture” traditions passed on by her Sicilian ancestors. She enjoys sowing seeds of resilient resistance and sharing the harvest of delicious home cooked foods. She’s most joyful singing, strumming, dancing and drumming with other cultural workers for human liberation; especially under an open sky. She has performed as lead singer and percussionist with several Capital Region based original and cover bands, performed solo and with the duo, Chrysalis Lore in past years as well as in other ensembles.
